Michael “Mike” Tyler is the main protagonist of Hero Inside. He's voiced by Marc Thompson.

Personality[]

Mike is an average 13 year old boy who has a good heart and a strong imagination. When he first summoned Crying Man, he was initially freaked out, but as the series goes on, Mike shows he has the potential to be a real superhero.

Unlike most Readers, who usually misuse their Hero Books for their own personal gain, Mike grows to genuinely want to help people and treats his heroes, especially Crying Man, as friends. He is also shown to be brave, as in Give Me My Gloves he was willing to risk his life to save a woman trapped in her car and chose to help stop the runaway trolley instead of pursuing X.

Mike has also grown to possess a good sense of right and wrong, as he managed to convince Ed that he became no better than the bullies he fought and called out X for her careless behavior and becoming no better than the Readers who misuse their Hero Books, recognizing that Scott made them to help people. He is also swore to Dirko in Villains vs Heroes that he’d always stop him from hurting others.

Physical Appearance[]

Mike is a 13-year-old white-skinned boy with a freckled face, a big nose, lime green eyes, and semi-short curly dark brown hair.

Trivia[]

  • It is heavily implied by Nick in Great GRAVITY that Mike’s dad abandoned him and his mom, though the details aren’t entirely clear, bringing it up greatly angers and upsets Mike.
  • Mike is one of the first known Readers capable of summoning and Comicalizing 5 heroes at once, as seen in Villains vs Heroes, but doing so left him very exhausted to the point he collapsed afterward.
  • Every time Mike demonstrates an increase in his ability to summon heroes or create a new page/ability, it is always triggered by a threat to Lucy’s (or X’s) safety.
  • In Season 2, Mike gains an ability called “Comical Create,” allowing him to temporarily create new pages and powers for his Heroes in place of the Comicalize pages, though it takes up a lot of his energy and the pages revert back afterward.
  • According to supplementary material, Mike’s last name is “Tyler.”[1]
  • According to the X page of a producer/story artist of Hero Inside, @HeroOutsider:
    • It takes Mike 18 seconds to change into his “Super Awesome Man” suit.[2]
    • Nick cobbled the "Super Awesome Man" suit from various objects he or his parents owned and a couple of other randomly bought things.[3]
  • According to @HeroOutside, the police might be interested in teaming up with Super Awesome Man & X, especially since Super Scott is still on the loose, but would do so cautiously[4]
    • The Police estimate Mike's height to be 5.2-5.4 feet (158.4-164.5 cm)
    • The case file for his and Lucy's arrest lists their crimes as: Destroyed City Hall with Hero Books. Ganged up with "The Council of Comics" and formed a Criminal Organization with Two Tone Tony to commit violent crimes.
